Jammu & Kashmir, the glittering ‘Crown’ of India lies in the extreme north of the Country and shares international boundary on three sides with China, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Getting There & Away: How to reach Jammu & Kashmir
Road: The State is connected to the rest of India by the NH-1. The Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) runs buses to the neighbouring states of Delhi, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. In addition, the towns within the State are also well connected by roadways.
Rail: The main railway station in the state is Jammu Tawi - 3.9 kms away from the centre of Jammu. The Jammu Tawi Station is well connected to all major cities in India. One more option to reach Srinagar by rail is via Banihal Railway Station, which is connected to Jammu by road. This railway service is operational only in summers.
Air: The state has three Airports - Jammu Airport in Jammu city, Aerodome Airport in Srinagar and Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport at Leh.
