Jammu & Kashmir, the glittering ‘Crown’ of India lies in the extreme north of the Country and shares international boundary on three sides with China, Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is bounded in the south by Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. The mountainous State popularly known as the ‘Paradise on Earth’ is blessed with lofty snow clad peaks, deep gorges, glaciers, lush green meadows and picturesque valleys full of Chinar trees, beautiful blue lakes, charming flora and fauna. It is an excellent base for leisure and adventurous holidays amidst breathtaking scenery. Jammu and Kashmir is historically very rich and has a distinct culture where people of all faiths live in perfect harmony and has some of the most sacred temples, mosques, monasteries and caves. Kashmiri handicrafts are well known all over the world. The ancient traditions of crafting poplar mache, wood carving, carpet and shawl making generates substantial amount of foreign exchange. A visit to this paradise resplendent in nature’s glory will linger long in the memory of the visitor.

Getting There & Away: How to reach Jammu & Kashmir
 The State is connected to the rest of India by the NH-1. The Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) runs buses to the neighbouring states of Delhi, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. In addition, the towns within the State are also well connected by roadways.

Rail: The main railway station in the state is Jammu Tawi - 3.9 kms away from the centre of Jammu. The Jammu Tawi Station is well connected to all major cities in India. One more option to reach Srinagar by rail is via Banihal Railway Station, which is connected to Jammu by road. This railway service is operational only in summers.
Air: The state has three Airports - Jammu Airport in Jammu city, Aerodome Airport in Srinagar and Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport at Leh.
