Kufri, Himachal Pradesh

A wide spread of snow peaks, deep valleys and a position as a ‘must do’ excursion from Shimla have ensured popularity of Kufri down the decades. This is a little hamlet in the Himalayan belt. This was the place where skiing originated in Himachal Pradesh and today, this remains popular for its walks, horse and yak rides, drives and views.

Climate: Pleasant in summer and cottons and light woollens are suggested. Winters are cold and heavy woollens are required.

Getting There & Away: How to reach Kufri

Road: Shimla is 16 kms away and Chail is at a distance of 28 kms.

Rail: Kalka is 106 kms away and Shimla railway station is at a distance of 16 kms.

Air: Shimla airport is at a distance of 18 kms.

Tourist Attractions in Kufri

Himalayan Nature Park has several animals of the area including bears and musk deer.

The Mahasu peak rises above Kufri and makes a good hike. The view from the top is magnificent. Horses and yaks are there for rides.
